The Idea
THE SITE BANDIT was developed out of necessity. We are web guys just like you. Our company IMC Media Group is a midsized web services company in Miami USA. We have built over 1000 sites in the last decade and even though we have contracts and measures in place to make sure we get paid for our work, we have still had issues getting paid from customers that ether vanish or just start ignoring us when the project is finished and payment is due.
The idea for THE SITE BANDIT came to our CEO when he was chasing a client for a mere $400 for some minor edits to an existing website. We didn’t build the clients site and it was a small bunch of edits, so we decided it would be more trouble than its worth to move the whole site to our development servers then do the work, and move it all back again (silly us).
So you guessed it the relationship soured with the client, he wanted everything and the world for free, wanted us to work on Christmas eve because HE didn’t celebrate Christmas and didn’t like it when we refused. Anyway he decided to change his passwords and lock us out and of course not pay his bill (FYI all work was completed). Now even though it was only $400.00 it became a principle issue for our CEO, as he had done this client a lot of “extras” for free, worked late nights to get things done ahead of schedule etc. So he knew he wouldn’t get paid and just wished there was a way to get in and remove the work he had done….not the whole site, just his work.
This is when the idea for a ‘retrieval” tool hit him….so he gathered his top programming guys and started work on the prototype of SITE BANDIT within a month he had a working version. now he was originally only going to use it within his own company but when friends and associates within the web industry heard about it, they begged him for a copy of the tool to try out…it was a monster hit and word spread. So being a businessman he decided to package the tool up and release it to the world…..and here it is.
